Skandia Docklands Invitational kicked off today with racing commencing off Williamstown.

20 teams will face off in the inaugural Vectrix SB3 King of the Docklands.

The world’s best sailors, Olympic Gold medalists, World and National champions from eight countries will cross spinnakers to become the Vectrix SB3 King of the Docklands this Sunday (20 January).

The official ballot was conducted last night and the 14 boats competing in the Skandia Docklands IRC Invitational now have the Celebrity component added to their line up for the weekend.

Donning sailing vests, polo shirts and boat shoes, a select group of Melbourne’s personalities are preparing to sail on Port Phillip this weekend in a bid to win the inaugural Skandia Celebrity Challenge on Saturday 19th January.

An expression of interest letter has been sent out to a list of 32 potential competitors for Skandia Docklands Invitational.

Skandia Docklands Invitational will be held from Friday 18th through to Sunday 20th of January in 2008, with five races conducted on the Saturday and Sunday.
